which drops riders off the roof, through water curtains, and into an

Girl Guides Take Over - What a screaming success!
Blackpool was taken over by 8000 Girl Guides this weekend and Sandcastle
Waterpark was home to 300 of them for Saturday night! The Girl Guiding
Association hired the entire Waterpark out for a private function and
had complete rule of the Waterpark with access to all slides and
attractions followed by a daring sleep over inside the waterpark itself
on the terraced seating areas. Their time in the Waterpark went down a
storm with cheers and laughs to be heard all over. Along with a few
screams from the people who dared to tackle the Hyperzone slides! A
whistle stop tour was made to the Pleasure Beach Resort for a disco and
then back to us for snacks and a luxury hot chocolate with whipped cream
and marshmallows. Actors from The Carnesky's Ghost Train graced us with
their presence and told eerie ghost stories of strange happenings within
the Waterpark welcoming ghouls and ghosts to roam through the tropical
surroundings. After a 'peaceful' night, the girls were woken up with
fresh sausage, bacon and egg sandwiches server with orange juice and
left the Waterpark able to regale the tale of their mysterious night in
the Sandcastle Waterpark!

We promised we would keep you up to speed with the progress on the new
slides and here's the most up to date review. Aztec Falls (our new bowl
slide) is really starting to take shape and a new bright orange and
yellow bowl now dominates our south forecourt. Montazooma (our new mat
slide) is yet to be built, although all the pieces are eagerly awaiting
construction and are on display in our compound. The two new slides will
linked up to the new launch pod which can be seen for miles around, on
the roof of Sandcastle Waterpark. The new slides will be complete and
ready for you all to try out soon, we are just being held up by the
weather now - it really shouldn't be too much longer. We'll keep you
posted with a definate date as soon as we can! We are very excited and
hope you are too!!!

Aztec Falls starts to be put together.
The pieces of the new slides arrive from Canada!!!
It certainly seems like we've been getting ready for these new slides
for some time. However, our construction team here have been working
tirelessly behind the scenes in preparation!! This last week the pieces
of the slides arrived via ship from Canada and now await construction.
Over the next few weeks you will be able to see the stanchions being
constucted on the forecourt and the pieces of Aztec Falls and Montazooma
gradually being placed together! We're getting very excited - hope you
guys are! Watch this space to find out more!!
Further mystery surrounds the uncovering of a hidden room on our
forecourt!
We have been meeting with several archivists, historians, local experts,
engineers and specialists to try and further resolve the mystery of the
hidden room that has been uncovered on our south forecourt. So far
suggestions for the nature of the rooms are: air raid shelter, pump
station, storm drain room, pump for fountain across the road at
Flagstaff Gardens, secret army storage facility and even pirate treasure
storage!!! So although we have plenty of ideas, we don't have a
definitive answer yet................ we are excavating the site further
and we'll keep you posted if we can get any answers! But rememeber if
you can remember anything about the site back in the days, let us know.

Sandcastle Waterpark wins again!
The Sandcastle Waterpark Team attended the Radio Wave Lifestyle and
Culture Awards on Thursday 12th May. We had been nominated by the Radio
Stations Listeners for 4 awards and came away winning 2: Website Award
and Kids Choice. Thanks again so much for everyone that voted for us!!!
How Exciting! We've uncovered a hidden room on our South
Forecourt!!!
Building work started on our South Forecourt and whilst evacuation of
the area was being completed to build the stanchions for the New Slides,
we have uncovered a secret Hidden Room!!
Historians, Civic Trust Members, Engineers, Carefoot and Management have
all been trying to uncover the nature of the Hidden Room. Is it one on
its own or part of a network of rooms, what was its purpose and how deep
is it? So far we haven't managed to get any real answers! Can you help?
Do you know anything about the original open air baths in 1923?? If you
can help solve the mystery please email us at
info@sandcastle-waterpark.co.uk.
We'll keep you posted as the Mystery unfolds!
New Aztec Slides are not far away!!
The 2 new Aztec themed slides are really not far away now! Development
work is continuing and although the builders are hard at work non of the
normal operations have been affected. Just us in the offices!!!
The £2.5 million investment in the form
of 2 new slides, named Montazooma and Aztec Falls.
Aztec Falls is within an Aztec Temple
and is a high energy tube slide that starts slowly but quickly drops
riders into a steep dark chute before entering the enclosed bowl! After
spinning around in the bowl, riders will gradually slow down and then
descend into the corkscrew exit. A waterslide certainly not for the
faint hearted!
Montazooma is a mat slide chasing
through the surrounding jungle, which allows a single rider to plummet
head first down 360 degree loops and thrilling back to back turns. The
race is on!
Both slides will launch from the roof of
the Waterpark and plummet down outside the building, splashing back into
a newly created area, which is currently at the main entrance!! The New
slides will be open really soon!
Todd Carty makes a guest appearance!
Dancing on Ice, Eastenders and Grange Hill star Todd Carty had some
splashing fun with his family this Easter at Sandcastle Waterpark!
What a mess!! But a great one none the less!
Take a gander at some of these construction pics! Work for our 2 amazing
new slides is well underway!
The pictures below are of works that have already taken place. As you
can see, we have themed Typhoon Lagoon with rockery and palm trees, and
also had some brilliant hand painted murals to the surrounding walls!
Work for the refurb is very much underway!!
Refurbishment work for Sandcastle Waterpark is very much in motion. We
have some great development work going on alongside the new slide work.
Work includes:
- Painting and maintenance of all the stanchions.
- New gold standard wet room facility.
- Extending family changing rooms
- Theming and rocking of Typhoon Lagoon (our wave pool).
- Re-tiling
- Installation of a new buggy park
- Extra seating area for the cafe inside the waterpark
- New shop and Guest Services area
and last but not least.....our two new slides!!
We're going to be producing a Blog of the events but for now its best to
visit our facebook
page to see the work underway. Exciting times ahead
