IT’S A KNOCKOUT
Date: Sunday 4th May 2008
Time: Approximately 6-9pm
Location: Sandcastle Waterpark – the UKs Largest Indoor Waterpark
Description: Sandcastle Waterpark has agreed to host the summer It’s a Knockout Competition which is aid of the Mayor’s It’s A Knockout Appeal for the MRI Scanner for children.
The event is being organised at the moment and further details will be supplied shortly. Application forms will be available to download from the Sandcastle Waterpark’s website very soon.
The event: A team of 6 people should be entered, with a minimum contribution of £500 per team entered donated to the Mayor’s Charity.
The event will be a challenge based competition against the clock there will be the “Fort Riptide Splash Dash”, the “Shimmering Shallows Underwater Hockey” and the “Thunderfalls Clam Dive” to name but a few of the zaney tasks to complete. Each team must move around the waterpark and complete a task on an allocated slide or attraction. There will be penalty time issued if the task is not completed within a given time frame.
The two teams who complete the course with the best times will then be entered into a final where they will then compete against each other.

Meet Dave Dave is on his way to Blackpool!
Meet Dave (Cert PG) lands in cinemas July 18 2008 (Advance previews on July 12 & 13). To celebrate the release of this ‘out of our World’ comedy the Meet Dave simulator will be flying its way to Blackpool Please Beach (outside Blackpool Sandcastle Waterpark) on Sunday 13th July courtesy of Twentieth Century Fox.
Everyone will be invited to take the ride of a lifetime, experiencing the thrill of being a crew member onboard starship Dave! The Meet Dave simulator will be showing EXCLUSIVE footage from the film. Everyone who rides the Meet Dave simulator will receive a Meet Dave goody bag* packed with fun and games.
Dave (Eddie Murphy), newly arrived in New York City, may be the ultimate fish out of water. There‘s something about him that‘s not quite right – for starters, he seems remarkably out of place and uncomfortable in his own body. And for good reason: ‘Dave’ is not a man at all, but a ship made in the image of its miniature–sized captain. It‘s Eddie Murphy in Eddie Murphy in Meet Dave and while his crew of miniature aliens are trying to save their planet, they encounter a new problem, as their ship becomes smitten with an Earth woman.

Here are some examples of things that have happened so far...................
Tangerine Day - 28th February
Blackpool's Radio Wave organised a special Tangerine Day for the Mayor of Blackpool's Charity-the MRI Scanner Appeal for children. They collected funds raised by supporting parties who wore tangerine on the 28th. Sandcastle Waterpark joined in the fun and ran a special promotion the weekend before - every customers who turned up wearing tangerine was allowed the Hyperzone for just £1 which was then donated to the charity. John Child - Managing Director also volunteered an additional £1 per every orange armband counted over the weekend!!! The Sandcastle's Contribution was £106 which was collected on the 28th by Radio Wave and the Deputy Mayor.
A fantastic event which raised over £10,000 for the charities Help for Heroes and MRI Scanner Appeal - Its A Knockout. The Team set a new UK record for the Longest Distance Travelled on a Waterslide in 24 hours and each broke the individual record - unfortunately there can only be record holder and that was Mark McLuggage who set a new Guinness World Record for the Longest Distance Travelled on a Waterslide in 24 hours.
The team climbed the steps and slid down Thunderfalls Waterslide for 24 hours, between them climbing the height of Everest 3 times over!

First Website Winners

in Customer Service Awards at the recent Blackpool Tourism Awards. 
Gary Henshall - Sandcastle Waterpark Manager scoops the LETS Award
for Excellence in Customer Service 
22nd November 2007 was the Lancashire Excellence in Tourism Service (LETS) Award ceremony here in Blackpool. Sandcastle Waterpark nominated their Waterpark Manager, Gary Henshall for an award for Excellence in Customer Service and are proud to say that out of many applicants Gary won. Gary has worked with Sandcastle Waterpark for many years and has always devoted himself wholeheartedly to each and every customer. His 'nothing is too much trouble' attitude has certainly paid off!
Russell Brand visits Sancdastle Waterpark - Saturday 1st September
Russell Brand's BBC Radio 2 Show will be live from an ice cream van. Yes, that's right - it's finally happening. Russell's been promising it all year, and the time has come.
This Saturday from 9pm he'll be on the South Promenade in Blackpool as part of Radio 2's illumination switch-on weekend. And the whole show will be done from an ice cream van.
Stobart Factor - Saturday 21st July 2007
If you are a singer or group and think that you've got what it takes to be the next big singing sensation, come along to the Stobart Factor Audition on Saturday 21st July at Sandcastle Waterpark. Winners of each audition will receive vocal training from CeCe Sammy at the Stobart Semis before progressing to the Stobart Factor Final on 12th August to perform on stage along Westlife.
The Sandcastle Waterpark auditions will on from 10am-4pm with registration starting at 9am. 2 songs must be prepared for the audition.
Judging panel will include a mystery celebrity who will also perform during the course of the day!

Birthday Celebrations - 23rd June 2007
As part of the Sandcastle Waterpark's Birthday Celebrations there are a number of competitions and promotions running across regional radio stations and in the newspapers. Keep your eyes peeled throughout July and August for a promotion or competition coming near you!!!
We will be organising a number of special events here at Sandcastle Waterpark throughout the year and of course you will be invited to attend and join in the fun.
